This comprehensive and easy to read document sets out for the first time the complex legislative arrangements that are currently in force in the UK permitting unlicensed herbal remedies to be supplied to individual patients following a face-to-face consultation. It is a truly consultative document and the MHRA have confirmed that further consultation will follow on more specific issues once the responses to MLX 299 have been evaluated. The proposals are in response to the recommendations of:the House of Lords Report of November 2000 on Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM); and the Report of September 2003 of the Herbal Medicine Regulatory Working Group (HMRWG) which was set up as a result of the Lord's Report.
